Signs of Wind Damage to your Roof

Even though roofing materials are created to tolerate the elements of weather, severe storms can impact the condition of your roof. Wind, especially, can cause damage because it strikes your roof in an uneven manner. The most susceptible areas include the ridge, the corners, and the edges.

High winds can lift, curl, tear, and remove shingles from your roof.   Torn or missing shingles expose the underlayment, roof deck, and other materials to the outside elements, leading to potential leaks.  Lifting of shingles loosens the nails, allows for debris to accumulate between layers, and can cause water damage.  Curled shingles allow for leaks and usually occur at the ridge, near the chimney, or around the corners and edges of the roof.
